ULIS Students Showcase Confidence and Brilliant Minds at the 14th “Understanding the Asian Community” Presentation Contest

On May 12, 2026, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (ULIS-VNU) successfully organized the 14th “Understanding the Asian Community” Presentation Contest for the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. This signature event is an integral part of the curriculum for the “Understanding the Asian Community” course, managed and taught by the Faculty of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Linguistics and Cultures.

The event was attended by ULIS Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son, representatives from various university departments, leadership and faculty members of the Department of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Linguistics and Cultures, the Board of Judges, and students enrolled in the course.

Before the official commencement, the auditorium buzzed with excitement, fueled by an energetic and captivating opening performance that set an inspiring tone for all attendees.

Delivering the opening remarks, Vice President Hoa Ngoc Son highly commended the Faculty of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Linguistics and Cultures for their dedicated efforts in organizing this contest over the years. He also praised the students’ commitment to rigorous academic research. The Vice President emphasized that the contest serves not only as a meaningful academic forum but also as a valuable opportunity for students to synthesize knowledge, hone their presentation skills, foster critical thinking, and enhance teamwork through their research on Asian communities.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Tran Huu Tri, Dean of the Faculty of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Linguistics and Cultures, expressed his gratitude to all the students who embarked on this academic journey throughout the course and the contest. Dr. Tran Huu Tri also expressed his hope that this course and contest would ignite a lifelong passion for research, discovery, and learning among ULIS students.

Following the opening speeches, a representative from the Board of Judges briefed the finalists on the rules and evaluation criteria, ensuring the teams were well-prepared and confident to showcase their best work.

Having cleared the preliminary rounds, six outstanding teams advanced to the grand finale, which featured two challenging segments: a research presentation and a Q&A session. Here, the contestants not only demonstrated a deep understanding of their research topics but also skillfully utilized eloquence and sharp critical thinking to convince the judges and captivate the audience.










Following a rigorous evaluation and insightful feedback from the Board of Judges, the Organizing Committee announced the final results:
– First Prize: Group 3 (“The Impact of the Northern Key Economic Zone on Economic Development in the Border Areas of Lang Son Province”)
– Second Prize: Group 4 (“Applying Visual Communication Design to Vinamilk’s Brand Repositioning Strategy in the Vietnamese Market from 2023 to 2025”), Group 6 (“The Operational Mechanism and Strategic Logic of the United States in the Peace Council Model”)
– Third Prize: Group 3: Group 5 (“Positioning National Identity in Contemporary Music: A Case Study of the Music Video ‘Muc Ha Vo Nhan’ by Soobin & Binz”), Group 1 (“Assessing the Effectiveness of the ‘Digital Skills Universalization for Students’ Course: Enhancing Digital Technology Awareness at Chu Van An Junior High School”), Group 2 (“Exploring Youth Engagement in the Revitalization of Bat Trang Pottery Village”)



The 14th “Understanding the Asian Community” Presentation Contest concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impression with its diverse research topics and stellar student performances. The event continues to be a rewarding academic playground, significantly contributing to elevating the quality of learning and research excellence among ULIS students.
