Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Vietnamese Language and Cultural Experience Program for Students from National Chengchi University

On July 25, 2025, the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi held the closing ceremony of the Vietnamese language and cultural experience program for students from National Chengchi University (Taiwan, China), marking the fourth time the program has been successfully organized.

In attendance at the ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Hoa Ngọc Son, Vice President of the University of Languages and International Studies, representatives of university units, lecturers, and student volunteers. Representing National Chengchi University were Ms. Phan Thi Thanh and 16 students participating in the program.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Hoa Ngọc Son stated that the program had been highly successful, featuring two weeks of meaningful experiential activities. Through in-class lessons and extracurricular activities, students from National Chengchi University gained valuable insights into the Vietnamese language, culture, and people. He also expressed his delight at the enthusiasm shown during exchanges between students from the two universities and expressed his hope that the international students would share their memorable experiences and stories with family and friends, helping to introduce the image of a beautiful Vietnam.

At the event, Mr. Tran Huu Tri, Head of the Faculty of Vietnamese Language and Culture & Southeast Asian Studies, emphasized that the program was not only an opportunity for students to approach the Vietnamese language and culture through theory, but also to explore them through vivid, hands-on experiences. Although the course was affected by Typhoon Wipha, the students and faculty members of the University of Languages and International Studies and National Chengchi University successfully completed the program as planned, traveling and discovering the country and culture of Vietnam together.

On behalf of the students from National Chengchi University, Hoang Binh Hao shared that during the two-week program, in addition to enjoying Vietnamese cuisine, the students had opportunities to practice Vietnamese communication skills and visit destinations rich in Vietnamese cultural identity. The student representative also expressed sincere gratitude to the lecturers and volunteers for their wholehearted support throughout this experiential learning journey.

Representing National Chengchi University, Ms. Phan Thi Thanh expressed her sincere appreciation to the University of Languages and International Studies for designing a meaningful and valuable program for Taiwanese students. She expressed her belief that the lessons and experiences gained in Vietnam would be beneficial to the students in their future endeavors.

Following the ceremony, students from National Chengchi University took part in a cooking activity themed “Iconic Dishes of Hanoi,” where they tried their hand at making fried spring rolls, phở cuốn, and salted dracontomelon drink (nước sấu). Divided into three teams, the participants worked collaboratively to complete creative dishes that reflected each team’s own ideas and teamwork.

The ceremony concluded with a commemorative photo session, capturing memorable moments of National Chengchi University students during their time at ULIS.
