Community of Practice Vietnam’s Language & Culture (VLC) successfully hosted an international seminar

On December 29, 2022, the Community of Practice Vietnamese Language and Culture,  VNU University of Languages & International Studies, in collaboration with the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL) co-organized the international workshop on Nominalization, Gender and Classifiers.

The workshop was held at Meeting room 509, Building A1, VNU University of Languages & International Studies, and was chaired by Dr. Phan Thi Huyen Trang, head of the Community of Practice Vietnamese Language and Culture. The guest speakers were Prof. Masayoshi Shibatani, Professor Emeritus of Rice University (USA) and Kobe University (Japan), Prof. Prashant Pardeshi, National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics (NINJAL), Prof. Masaaki Shimizu, Osaka University (Japan). In addition, the workshop was also participated Assoc.Prof. Lam Quang Dong, Vice President of VNU University of Languages & International Studies, Dr. Chu Thi Bich (Chair of the Department of Vietnamese Language & Culture), Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Huu Hoanh, Former Deputy Director of Institute of Linguistics, and lecturers and students of VNU University of Languages & International Studies.

This workshop has created an initial stepping stone for pioneering collaborative research on different aspects of noun phrases in Vietnamese and other minority languages in Vietnam between VNU University of Languages & International Studies and the National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics.
